What to expect if you attend

This is a full, immersive day, and you're welcome to join for one program or the whole thing. Come as you are — no Hebrew fluency, ritual knowledge, or specific background required. MJE's community is built for people exploring Judaism at every level, from lifelong observance to complete beginners. Expect warm, unpretentious company; substantive learning led by engaging, approachable rabbis and educators; moments of real emotional weight (this is a mourning-focused day, not a festive one); and a chance to walk away with a genuine understanding of why this day still matters, told through the lens of both ancient history and present-day relevance. Light, casual dress is appropriate given the fast and the low seating tradition.
