LARRY & ILYSE
From “Pass the Cholent” to “I Do”
December 13th, 2014, MJE veteran, Larry Rukin walked into the MJE kiddush room and took a plate waiting for the hot cholent to be served.

A staff member hands him a plate. Larry turns to his side and hands the extra plate to Ilyse Leibowitz who was at her very first MJE Kiddush. They get to talking. They go out that week to the MJE Chanukah Party and on December 4th, 2016 MJE’s Rabbi Pinny Rosenthal officiated their wedding!

Remember – be kind – she might just be your wife!
MJE SUCCESSES NOVEMBER 2016

BREAKING RECORDS WITH MONDAY NIGHT RELATIONSHIP SERIES!

We have received tremendous positive feedback on our “Relationship Class Series”, which focused on love, dating and relationships within Judaism. The series featured Rabbi Mark Wildes in conversation with renowned experts on relationships and happiness.
This month we launched a new social media initiative of live  streaming Monday night’s class via Facebook! This has allowed us to expand our audience exponentially. Some who viewed the class online shared that they felt inspired by MJE’s example in creating conversation around these topics and are now planning similar programs in their communities.
Over 80 attendees showed up on each Monday in November which broke our record for attendance in 4 consecutive weeks!
Facebook Live reach per class as of December 5:
Dec.5: 2354  | Nov.28: 3168 | Nov.21: 5342 | Nov.14: 3067

MJE ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE & MITZVAH FAIR

In our efforts to foster a sense of responsibility for the State of Israel and engender a love of community, MJE had its annual MJE Blood Drive & Mitzvah Fair. This year we had a unique fundraiser ping pong tournament to raise money for IDF Lone Soldiers! The tournament was a community hit, garnering buzz from a funny promotional video parodying “The Office”. WATCH VIDEO HERE!

The Blood Drive broke our record for people who came to donate (82 donors) resulting in 69 pints collected. We also collected 40 Jscreen tests, raised approximately $1800 so far for Lone Soldiers/Pay it Forward MJE chesed project, made over 50 cards with for Ezer Mitzion for soldier donors, dozens of Mezuzot and Tefillin were checked by our Sofer, and approximately 20 suits/garments were checked for Shatnez!

If you’d like to contribute and help us reach our goal for the Lone Soldier Fundraiser, CLICK HERE – we are still accepting donations!

OUR LARGEST FELLOWSHIP CLASS!

The 2016-2017 Fellowship class is the largest ever with 19 students! The Fellowship program, now in its 10th year, provides a year of intensive education, shabbatonim, retreats, and mentorship which culminates with a Tanach [Biblical] tour of Israel.
